A Partnership with Energize NY
Our journey towards complete sustainability began with a partnership with Energize NY, an organization dedicated to supporting conservation and renewable energy projects for commercial enterprises. In collaboration with Energize NY, we embarked on an exciting mission to reduce our carbon footprint and enhance the efficiency of our farm.
On a beautiful April day, we had the honor of hosting an event attended by a representative from Senator Bonacic’s office. This gathering marked a milestone in our transition to sustainable energy. The event celebrated the successful installation of nearly 200 solar panels on our property. These solar panels, made possible by the Energize NY Program, are a symbol of our dedication to reducing operating costs and our environmental impact.
The Solar Transformation
Approaching 5 Spoke Creamery on the scenic Pulaski Highway, the sight of our extensive solar panel array is impossible to miss. The solar panels represent our unwavering determination to achieve complete self-sustainability. Every ray of sunshine collected by these panels powers our farm, from the milking process to the cheese aging rooms. Our surplus energy even contributes to the local electric grid, making us proud contributors to our community.
Our Mission
Our mission at 5 Spoke Creamery is two-fold: to produce top-tier raw milk cheeses and to lead the way in sustainable farming practices. We believe that eco-consciousness and traditional cheese-making techniques can harmoniously coexist, resulting in cheeses that can compete with the best in the nation.
We’re not just content with being 100% solar powered; we’re also a testing ground for cutting-edge New York-made solar storage batteries. This pioneering spirit allows us to be on the forefront of technological advancements in the renewable energy sector.
A Path to Growth
Our transition to solar energy has not only been environmentally beneficial, but also economically savvy. By installing nearly 200 solar panels we have significantly reduced our operating costs.This efficiency boost has allowed us to accelerate production. We now have the capacity to create up to 800 pounds of cheese a day, aged to perfection in our on-site aging rooms.
Our cheese range, inspired by French and English flavors, has earned a place on store shelves across the United States. And with the strong foundation we’ve built in Orange County, our dream is to continue growing our business and share our passion for artisanal cheese with consumers worldwide.
